Position: Account Manager

Job Summary:

This position revolves around selling scientific equipment to North American customers in a variety of markets including Medical, Materials Research, Government, and others.  This role is accountable for growing sales revenue, expanding our customer base, and building and maintaining effective customer relationships. This role requires previous consultative sales experience with a working knowledge of various microscopy technologies. The incumbent must have confidence in holding technical and commercial discussions with engineering, purchasing, and all levels of management. Up to 50% overnight travel is required, including occasional international travel. The territory for this position is the continental US.

Job Responsibilities:

1.  Provides primary interface to prospects and customers

  • Prospects and generates new accounts while growing and maintaining existing accounts
  • Cultivates and maintains productive relationships with a variety of contacts and customers
  • Performs routine sales travel to visit new and existing customers
  • Develops competitive selling tactics for individual sales opportunities
  • Maintains database of proposals, contacts, and communications with customers
  • Generates proposals and quotes
  • Implements a consultative selling approach

2. Provides application support to prospects and customers

  • Interprets and evaluates prospective customers’ scientific applications in order to propose solutions
  • Maintains knowledge of competitive products including price, performance and application
  • Prepares demonstrations of AMT Products
  • Provides product and application training when required
  • Maintains documentation of applications (knowledge base) for shared reference

3.  Provides interface to marketing and sales management

      • Participates in developing sales strategy and annual sales plan and budget
      • Provides input for product development or revision (based on knowledge of customer requirements and market trends)
      • Generates monthly updates to territory forecast and other reports as needed
      • Researches and identifies potential customers for AMT products and services


Primary Location:

Must live within 1 hour of any major US airport

Job Requirements:

  • Two years of related experience, developing and growing a sales territory
  • Experience successfully implementing consultative sales method
  • Communicates with customers and prospects without reluctance or procrastination
  • Hands-on familiarity with high tech scientific instrumentation
  • Independently plans and executes travel schedule by land and air domestically including coordinating customer visits, transportation, and lodging
  • Strong technical writing and verbal communication skills via email, phone, and face-to-face
  • Self-motivated and can work without close supervision
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and set priorities
  • Flexibility to work in an environment with changing priorities
  • Ability to work effectively with ambiguity
  • Goal oriented; relying on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
  • Technically oriented and analytical
  • High level of integrity, punctual and responsive, maintains commitments
  • Comfortable with a small company environment

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline preferred. Experience in Materials or Biological research a plus.
